Hands-on with the dog tag styled Jabra BT3030 Bluetooth headset
We recently received the Jabra BT3030 Bluetooth stereo headset that is currently being offered by Verizon Wireless. The headset differs from the norm quite a bit and offers users a hip and trendy dog tag styled form factor.
Jabra offers users two ways to wear the BT3030: around the neck on a metal chain lanyard or with its attachable clothing clip. The headset supports the Bluetooth A2DP stereo profile to offer users music playback capabilities while on the go and it is also splashproof.
On the front of the metallic headset, the device’s main controllers can be found, including the play/pause/stop button, previous and next track dedicated buttons, volume up and down, and the answer/end button for phone calls. All buttons are found very easily due to Jabra’s raised rubber guides on each button, and they seem to have good tactile response. The BT3030 is powered on and off by pressing on the left or right side of the talk button for 1 to 2 seconds. The headset’s microphone is found on the top edge of the dog tag and its headphone connector plug is located on the right edge. The device ships with stereo earphones but it should be noted that the BT3030 is able to handle any 3.5mm jack equipped headphones. The BT3030’s miniUSB charger port is located on the bottom of the dog tag.
Weighing a tad over an ounce (1.06oz/30g), the Jabra BT3030 offers automatic pairing, voice dial support, and up to 8 hours of talk time or 9.5 days of standby time. This Bluetooth headset is available now for around US$70.
